Sony unveils subscription option for PlayStation Now
Sony is adding a subscription option to its streaming video game service PlayStation Now next week.
The subscription will be available in two forms: a monthly plan costing $19.99 a month or a three-month package for $44.99, which breaks down to roughly $15 monthly. Users can try the service free for seven days as part of a trial period.
The option will be available January 13 in the U.S. and Canada.
Subscribers will have access to more than 100 games, which include a combination of first-party titles and third-party games from publishers including Warner Bros. Interactive and Sega.
The subscription will launch first on PlayStation 4 before arriving on other PlayStation Now devices in the future.
"We know there are lots of PS4 owners that never owned a PS3, and this is a great way to catch up on games they may have missed," says Phil Rosenberg of Sony Computer Entertainment America in a statement.
An open beta for PlayStation Now launched last summer, allowing users to rent titles individually for a set period of time, and progress made within a game is saved through the cloud. Prices range from $2.99 to $19.99.
