'Uncharted 4' launch pushed back to 2016

PlayStation 4 owners will have to wait a while longer to revisit the exploits of Nathan Drake.

The treasure hunter's next adventure, Uncharted 4: A Thief's End, has been delayed until next spring. The action title for PS4 was originally slated to launch later this year.

The delay was confirmed by developers Naughty Dog in a post on the official PlayStation blog.

"After spending so many years with Nathan Drake, he means a lot to the team, and telling the climactic chapter of his adventures is a task we don't take lightly — this game deserves every bit of the attention to detail, precise pacing, and nuanced storytelling Naughty Dog is known for," says Bruce Straley and Neil Druckmann, directors of Uncharted 4, in a statement.

Uncharted 4 was expected to be Sony's big holiday blockbuster for PS4, following a quiet season last year which saw few big first-party games. Most notable was the launch of racing game DriveClub.

Hype continues to grow for the next Uncharted, the first new game from Naughty Dog since launching the hit The Last of Us in 2013. A remastered edition of that game launched for the PS4 last year.
