How to watch The International Dota 2 championships
One of the biggest prize pools in competitive video gaming is up for grabs starting Monday.
The fifth annual International Dota 2 championships kick off Monday with the main event, ending on August 8 with the Grand Finals.
Sixteen teams are vying for a prize pool topping $18 million, with $6.4 million going to first place. The top eight teams are placed in a double elimination upper bracket. Here are the matchups:
LGD Gaming vs. Team Empire
CDEC Gaming vs. Cloud 9
Evil Geniuses vs. compLexity Gaming
Team Secret vs. EHOME
The winner moves on to the next round. The loser drops into the lower bracket, where they will play in best-of-one matches. Eight teams will battle in the opening round of the lower bracket. Here's the breakdown:
MVP Phoenix vs. Newbee
Vici Gaming vs. Natus Vincere (Na'vi)
Virtus Pro vs. Fnatic
Invictus Gaming vs. MVP Hot6
The first day of the main event kicks off at 1 p.m. ET on Monday. Fans can watch on ESPN 3, Twitch, YouTube, or directly from the official Dota 2 website. If you prefer a big screen, The International will also broadcast in select theaters.
