There's now a 'Madden NFL' movie

Remember that bizarre ad for Madden NFL 15 last year, featuring Kevin Hart, massive air horns and a violin player with giant bear mask?

It’s about to get a lot more weird.

To promote Madden NFL 16, which launches August 25, Electronic Arts is revealing "Madden: The Movie," a 5-minute, action movie themed trailer featuring Dave Franco — who appeared in last year’s ad — and actor Christopher Mintz-Plasse (who played McLovin in Superbad).

And, yes, this ad is a lot stranger. There’s a T-Rex involved. There's Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski (playing the role of "Half Top") firing footballs out of a strange jetpack-like contraption at motorcycle-riding enemies. The “movie” boasts several other NFL cameos, too, including Buffalo Bills coach Rex Ryan and Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Antonio Brown.

This year’s Madden video game focuses on the playmakers, introducing new control options that allow superstars to make big plays on the field. The game launches August 25 for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
