Xfinity plans and pricing review: Top internet options available
Xfinity is the largest internet service provider (ISP) in the country, providing broadband internet for around 32.5 million customers and offering plans in 40 states. Xfinity, a Comcast brand, also has some of the cheapest starting rates of any ISP in the U.S., and offers products beyond home internet, including TV, home and mobile phone and security plans.
Xfinity offers a wide variety of download speeds, ranging from 75 to 6,000 Mbps (6 GB). Compared to other top ISPs, Xfinity could improve its customer satisfaction scores. We also found that Xfinity prices increase after promotional periods end, and that its plans have slower upload speeds compared to other ISPs.

- Xfinity Superfast: Up to 800 Mbps starting at $65 per month
- Xfinity Gigabit Pro: Up to 6 Gig starting at $299.95 per month
- Xfinity Gigabit Extra or Gigabit Pro: Name varies by region, up to 1,300 to 3,000 Mbps starting at $80 per month
- Xfinity Fast or Blast! Internet: Name varies by region, up to 600 Mbps starting at $35 to $60 per month
- Xfinity Internet Essential: Only for qualifying, low-income households. Up to 75 Mbps starting at $14.95 per month
Which Xfinity internet plan should I get?
Before purchasing an Xfinity home internet plan, here are factors to consider.
- Your online activities. Consider how you and members of your household spend your time online. If you frequently game or work remotely, you'll want a plan with download speeds of at least 100 Mbps to avoid lag or dropped video calls. If you have multiple connected devices, you'll likely need faster speeds than that.
- Your square footage. If you need your Wi-Fi to cover a large area, consider adding Xfinity's Wi-Fi booster to your plan, called xFi Complete. It starts at $10 per month for 12 months, but increases to $25 per month thereafter.
- The number of connected devices in your home. Homes with over 20 devices should consider Xfinity home internet plans with speeds of 1 GB or more.
- Cost. Consider what you can afford for the speeds you need. Xfinity offers some of the cheapest plans among the ISPs we reviewed.
- Available plans. Comcast internet by Xfinity is divided into Northeast, Central and West zones and plan speed, availability and pricing can vary by region. For example, Xfinity fiber is available in about 30 states.
- Other home services available. Many ISPs offer bundling discounts if you purchase other home services through them. Xfinity Mobile has nationwide coverage over a 4G/5G network (available even outside Xfinity Wi-Fi and TV areas). Xfinity TV packages and prices are available in all Xfinity internet regions.
Xfinity Superfast Internet – up to 800 Mbps
Pros
- Good download speeds for most online activities, like streaming in 4K and HD.
- Good value for offered download speeds.
- 10+ connected devices.
Cons:
- Speeds may not be fast enough for ultra-connected homes.
- Slower upload speeds.
- Prices after the promotional period ends (12 to 24 months).
Xfinity fiber plans – up to 6,000 Mbps (6 Gig)
Xfinity Gigabit Pro plans are Xfinity packages with fiber internet.
Pros:
- Unlimited devices and large file uploads.
- Equal download/upload speed. This makes it great if you upload videos and photos, livestream or frequently send emails with large attachments.
- Fast ping rates.
Cons:
- Price. Fiber plans tend to be more expensive.
- Availability. Xfinity doesn't offer Gigabit Pro plans everywhere.
Xfinity Gigabit Internet – up to 1,300 Mbps
Xfinity Gigabit offers download speeds of 1,300 Mbps (1.3 GB). With this plan, you can get double the speed of the Xfinity Superfast plan for an additional $10 to $20 per month.
Pros
- Great download speeds for ultra-connected homes.
- Gaming, streaming, virtual meetings and remote work.
Cons:
- Basic home internet use. These speeds are likely unnecessary if you don't have an ultra-connected home.
- Price. This plan can go for over $100 per month after the promotion period ends.
Xfinity Fast Internet – up to 400 Mbps
Xfinity Fast Internet plan is great for gaming, streaming videos and online shopping.
Pros:
- Fast internet speeds for homes with around eight or fewer connected devices.
- Affordable plan for fast download speeds.
Cons
- May need higher download speeds to avoid lag if your household has over eight connected devices.
- Price after promotion.
Xfinity Internet Essentials – up to 75 Mbps
Internet Essentials is Xfinity's cheapest internet plan, starting at $14.95 per month in select areas.
Pros:
- Affordable internet.
- No equipment fees.
Cons:
- Must meet income and other eligibility requirements to qualify.
- Speed. This plan only has download speeds of 75 Mbps, which could result in lag and buffering.
What to know about Xfinity bundles
You can customize your Xfinity bundle with any combination of internet, TV, streaming,landline phone, mobile phone or home security. You can also add Xfinity cable with 10+ channels or all those on the popular networks. If you purchase Xfinity TV, you'll need to add a TV box, which starts at $10 a month per room.

The 2024 ACSI scores rank fiber and non-fiber internet services separately due to significant differences in connection quality. These scores reflect satisfaction with features including internet speed, reliability, outages, mobile apps, websites and more.
- Non-fiber services: Xfinity received a 67, making it the 6th-best broadband providerout of the 12 ranked ISPs (one of which is an aggregate score of smaller ISPs).
- Fiber services: Xfinity earned a 75. Fiber scores tend to be higher overall, so while thisscore is better than its non-fiber services, it was low among all fiber providers.
