What to shop for in a TV and internet bundle

Here are some factors to consider when shopping for a TV and internet bundle deal.

Internet speeds

The FCC requires download speeds of 100 Mbps to be considered broadband service. Mid-sized households will need plans with download speeds of 300 to 500 Mbps to use around 10 to 15 or fewer wireless devices at the same time with little to no buffering.

Fully connected larger homes that game or use 15 to 20 or more Wi-Fi devices need a 1 GB plan or multi-gig internet package.

Live TV vs. streaming

Live TV typically needs faster Wi-Fi speeds. Consider how often you watch or stream live TV when you're purchasing a bundle package -- the cheapest option may not be the best one for your speed needs.
