The fastest-talking state is...(not New York)

If you think on-the-go New Yorkers are the fastest speaking people in the U.S., you’re wrong.

According to a study released on Feb. 2, Oregonians take the lead for “fastest talkers” in the U.S., and Minnesotans come in a close second.

Analytics firm Marchex analyzed over 4 million calls placed between 2013-2015, and measured the rate and frequency of speech from calls placed by residents in each state.

With text messaging, social media and the constant onslaught of new technology, Americans have a lot to say, and we’re trying to get it out quickly.

According to the data, the slowest speaking states typically fall in the South, and the fastest speaking populations are in the Northwest, New England and Midwest.
