Astronaut Scott Kelly shares last sunrise from space
NASA astronaut Scott Kelly posted a picture of the last sunrise he will see from space on Tuesday.
Kelly posted five images of the sunrising on Twitter Tuesday morning. In one of the tweets he wrote, “Rise and shine! My last #sunrise from space then I gotta go.”
Kelly is scheduled to return to Earth after spending more than 11 months aboard the aboard the International Space Station. During a recent news conference, Kelly said that while he misses his family, he wouldn't mind staying in space longer if necessary.
“I could go another year if I had to. It would just depend on what I was doing and if it would make a difference,” Kelly said last week during a news conference at the International Space Station.
He began his year in space on March 27, 2015. He and a Russian crewmate, Mikhail Kornienko, are the subjects of extensive studies on how the human body tolerates long bouts in space.
Throughout his journey, Kelly has tweeted stunning images of the view above with the hashtag #YearInSpace.
