Baby girl stopped breathing, Siri's voice activation saved her life

When a mother from Cairns, Australia needed to call an ambulance for her one-year-old daughter who stopped breathing, Apple’s Siri came to the rescue.

Stacey Gleeson noticed her daughter Giana was turning blue, according to BBC. While running to her daughter's aid, she dropped her phone. But, the mother shouted to activate Siri and got emergency services on speakerphone.

“Hey Siri, call the ambulance,” she yelled, Australia's News 7 reported.

The emergency operator at the end of the line was able to walk Gleeson through CPR, which saved her daughter’s life, the mom said.

The child was breathing when the ambulance arrived and made a full recovery.

Voice activation isn't available on all iPhone models. To turn Siri on, go to the Settings on your iPhone and select General. Then, choose Siri and switch on Enable. Gleeson has an iPhone 6S and said she'll never turn the function off.

"Saving me the trouble of having to physically dial emergency services was a godsend," she said.
