Tech Five: GoPro sinks following earnings

It's an ugly start for GoPro, which missed badly on fourth quarter earnings. Meanwhile, LinkedIn will report quarterly results after the bell Thursday.

Let's look at tech stocks to watch:

GoPro. Shares sunk more than 15% in pre-market trading after a huge earnings miss for the fourth quarter. GoPro reported a loss of 8 cents per share, well off the profit of 3 cents Wall Street expected. Shares of GoPro slumped 43% over the last month.

LinkedIn. The social network for professionals reports fourth quarter earnings after the bell. Analysts polled by S&P Capital IQ Consensus Estimates forecast earnings per share of 78 cents on revenue of $857.26 million in revenue.

Google. The head of the tech giant's artificial intelligence unit, John Giannandrea, will take charge of the company's search engine. He will replace Amit Singhal, who will leave Google after 15 years.

PayPal. The payments service unveiled its commercial airing during Super Bowl 50 this weekend, which will focus on "New Money."

Apple. A federal court in Texas awarded tech company VirnetX a $625.6 million verdict in a patent infringement lawsuit against the tech giant. The lawsuit claims Apple infringed on patents tied to iMessage and FaceTime.
