Tech Five: Polycom shares jump off acquisition talk


Shares of networking company Polycom are surging in Wednesday trading following reports of a potential acquisition. Meanwhile, Amazon is reportedly prepping a new Kindle.

Let's look at tech stocks to watch Wednesday:

Polycom. Shares jumped more than 10% in pre-market trading after Bloomberg reported the communications technology company is talking with Mitel Networks about a merger. The deal would value Polycom at $12.50 a share.

Amazon. After CEO Jeff Bezos teased plans to unveil a new Kindle, The Wall Street Journal reported the retailing giant is working on a higher-end version of its e-reader featuring a rechargeable battery case.

Facebook. The social network is making a stronger push with live video, introducing a series of new features, including the option to schedule a live Q&A through Events. The company hosts a developers conference next week in San Francisco.

Cisco. JPMorgan Chase upgraded the networking giant's stock to "neutral," CNBC reports. Shares of Cisco are up more than 1% in morning trading.

Twitter. The social network announced a deal with the National Football League to stream 10 Thursday night games. Twitter will also host top plays from the Thursday games and pre-game live broadcasts through its app Periscope.
