Tech Five: Nvidia to report earnings
Chip maker Nvidia reports quarterly results after the bell Thursday. Meanwhile, Amazon's popular Echo speaker might have competition soon.
Let's look at tech stocks to watch:
Nvidia. The company will report first quarter earnings after the markets close. According to S&P Global Market Intelligence, Nvidia is projected to report earnings of 41 cents a share on revenue of $1.26 billion.
Alphabet. Google is reportedly working on a project called Chirp that could directly compete with the Amazon Echo voice-enabled speaker. Recode reports Google is working on hardware leveraging its digital voice assistant OK Google.
Apple. According to Buzzfeed, the tech giant dismissed a report claiming it will get rid of music downloads on iTunes within a couple years. Last year, the company launched streaming service Apple Music.
Microsoft. The calendar app Sunrise will shut down on August 31, as the team behind the app will work more on features for Microsoft's Outlook app on iOS and Android.
Facebook. The social network is planning to introduce 360-degree photos to the News Feed, according to virtual reality company Oculus. Users can take photos with a 360 camera or as a panoramic image on your smartphone.
