Apple CEO Tim Cook goes to China

Apple CEO Tim Cook is checking up on the company's investment in China.

The technology giant last week announced that it had invested $1 billion in Chinese Uber rival Didi. And on Monday, Cook is on site checking out the service.

A tweet he posted Monday showed him with Didi President Jean Liu in a Didi vehicle. “We are very proud of that investment,” Cook told journalists outside of an Apple store in Beijing, the Financial Times reported. Cook was joined by several Chinese Internet entrepreneurs. “Didi has 14m drivers, 300m users — actually 300m and one now, because Jean and I took a Didi ride here this morning,” he said.

Cook is expected to fly to India on Tuesday to meet with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Reuters reported, citing sources familiar with the situation. Apple did not return comment when asked about Cook's itinerary.
