Tech Five: Oracle back in court again


After losing an appeal to Google over the use of Java, Oracle is heading back to court again. Meanwhile, have we reached the end of an era for iPhone launches?

Let's look at tech stocks to watch Tuesday:

Oracle. The software giant finds itself on the other side of a lawsuit filed by Hewlett-Packard accusing the company of hurting sales of its personal computers, reports The Wall Street Journal. Hewlett-Packard is seeking $3 billion in damages.

Apple. Big upgrades to the company's signature iPhone could arrive every three years instead of the current two-year cycle, reports Asia's Nikkei. Apple is reportedly extending the product cycle of the iPhone, meaning this year's model with feature only minor tweaks.

Alibaba. A Chinese government policy is pushing the e-commerce giant to tell vendors to halt online drug sales, reports Reuters. The policy only applies to marketplace websites like Alibaba's Tmall.

Facebook. The social network -- along with Twitter, Google and Microsoft -- agreed to new rules from the European Union regulating how they respond to illegal online hate speech. The move targets terrorist groups using the platforms to recruit members.

Amazon. The Code Conference kicks off in San Francisco Tuesday, with Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos among several big names expected to appear.
