Report: Amazon to invest $3B more in India

Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos plans to boost his company's investment in India to $5 billion, the latest push by tech companies into the thriving region.

According to Reuters, Bezos said he would increase Amazon's investment by $3 billion during an event in Washington attended by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Bezos says India is Amazon's fastest growing region, and plans to open a Web Services Cloud location in India as well as a software engineering and development center, says the report.

India is among several markets targeted by tech companies as key opportunities for growth. Last month, Apple CEO Tim Cook visited India as part of a broader international trip that included a stop in China.
