Summers are ideally spent passing the time poolside, on a boat, in a camper, in a hammock with a good book or whatever your pleasure. However, not everybody has immediate access to these fun activities, so where do you look?

The internet, of course! These days, it’s easy to find a pool, a pickleball court, camping equipment and so much more for rent with just a few taps of your keyboard and clicks of your mouse. These rentals allow you to host that pool party or take that cross-country road trip without the major monetary investment that comes with having and maintaining a pool or buying an RV.

Watch this video to see how easy it is to step up your summer fun with these rentals.

Pools near me

A dip in the pool is high on the wishlist for many on a hot summer day. But if you don’t have ready access to one, don’t sweat it! Consider these options:

  • Buy a day pass to a pool at a nearby hotel. Websites like ResortPass let you purchase different types of access to a hotel pool, spa or dayroom.
  • Rent someone’s pool using platforms like Swimply. The site goes beyond just pools, too. You can also rent a basketball court, tennis court or pickleball court, or the entire home for a wedding, party, photoshoot or corporate event.

Boat rentals

Much like you can rent a car, you can also rent a boat. Sites like Boatsetter and getmyboat allow you to rent the watercraft for a designated amount of time. Some of them also have the option of choosing whether the rental includes a captain or not.

Be sure to check any local boating rules and regulations in your area before hitting the waterways.

Camping rentals

If you want to hit the road, there are a lot of options.

For a standard vehicle, check out services like Turo, Uber and Lyft for short-term car rentals. If you’re looking for something a bit bigger, rent RVs, camper vans or travel trailers on sites like Outdoorsy or RVshare.

Don't forget to check out these camping apps to help you find the perfect camping spot and snag a park reservation.

Home improvement rentals

If your summer plans include doing some home improvement work, see what equipment you can rent from your local home improvement store, Home Depot or Lowe's. You can easily find gardening equipment, pressure washers and so much more at a fraction of the cost of buying it yourself.

These websites also have home improvement calculators to help you determine just how much material you'll need to get the project done.
