Adventure Time is one of those animated shows that adults and older kids can enjoy together and appreciate the humor on multiple levels. The series, which originally aired on Cartoon Network from 2010 to 2018, is now available in its entirety on HBO Max. The show centered on the adventures of a boy named Finn and his dog, Jake, but a new spin-off dedicated to the characters Fionna and Cake, tentatively called Adventure Time: Fionna & Cake, will be making its way to HBO Max soon enough.

The new Adventure Time spin-off series does not have a premiere date yet, but we know that the main stars will be Fionna (once again voiced by Madeleine Martin), Cake (voiced by Roz Ryan) and the Ice King (voiced by Tom Kenny).

Where can you stream the Adventure Time spin-off?

You can stream the Adventure Time spin-off, as well as other HBO Max originals, on HBO Max. The streaming service is available in the United States and certain U.S. territories (including American Samoa, Guam, the Northern Mariana Islands, Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands). It is also available in select Latin American and Caribbean countries, and according to the official HBO website, HBO Max will be available in more countries later this year.

The streaming platform can be accessed from desktop browsers, mobile devices, game consoles, or by streaming it using Chromecast or AirPlay2 to your compatible devices.

What is the Adventure Time spin-off about?

On Adventure Time, Fionna The Human and Cake The Cat were introduced in the third season. Fionna and Cake are the gender-swapped (and in Cake’s case, species-swapped) versions of Finn and Jake and, like their counterparts, they’ve proven themselves to be brave and undaunted by the mystery and magic of the universe. The new spin-off’s official description reads:

“Fionna and Cake—with the help of the former Ice King, Simon Petrikov—embark on a multiverse-hopping adventure and journey of self-discovery. All the while a powerful new antagonist, determined to track them down and erase them from existence, lurks in the shadows.”

Ten half-hour episodes of the Fionna and Cake series have been confirmed, but no premiere date has been announced at the time of publication.

How to sign up for HBO Max

To stream the Adventure Time spin-off, you can sign up for an initial seven-day trial of HBO Max, and subsequently pay $9.99/month or $99.99/year for a plan with ads, or $14.99/month or $149.99/year for the ad-free version. HBO Max offers a mixture of existing hit shows and movies and brand-new, exclusive Max Originals.

The $9.99 plan with ads was launched in June 2021 with four significant differences to the $14.99 ad-free plan. The biggest difference is, well, the ads. In addition, subscribers to the $9.99 plan also do not have the ability to download content to their devices, there is no option to watch select films in 4K HD, and they will not receive same-day access to Warner Bros. films like Reminiscence or Wonder Woman 1984 on their theatrical release date.

AT&T also offers a free or discounted HBP Max plan in concert with their AT&T video, internet, or wireless service. At this time, AT&T customers eligible for a discount include subscribers to AT&T Unlimited Elite, Plus, Plus Enhanced, Choice, Choice II, Choice Enhanced, Xtra, and Unlimited & More Premium, DirecTVStream, U-Verse U400, U450, and U450 Latino, and AT&T FIBER.
