There's a week left to preorder 'Pikmin 4' ahead of its release—here's how

Olimar and his Pikmin friends are making their way to your Nintendo Switch screens very soon. Pikmin 4 will arrive on digital and physical shelves on July 21, 2023 exclusively for the Nintendo Switch. It's been over 10 years since the last installment of Pikmin, so fans of the series may want to get their hands on a copy ahead of the game's release—here's how.

The standard edition of Pikmin 4 ($59.99) will be available to preorder for the next week ahead of its release on July 21. If you just can't wait that long, the Pikmin 4 demo is also live on the Nintendo Switch eShop, which will let you play the first hours of the game. Don't worry, your created character and save data will carry over to the full game once it's out. There's also a variety of Pikmin 4 merch included with your preorder, depending on which retailer you shop from.
How can you reserve a copy of 'Pikmin 4?'
You can preorder a physical copy of Pikmin 4 at Amazon, Walmart, Best Buy, GameStop and Nintendo. Preordering from Walmart will get you a Pikmin-themed water bottle, while Best Buy will include a free tote bag and Gamestop will ship with an exclusive pin set. If you preorder a physical copy, your purchase should be scheduled to arrive on the release date, depending on the retailer that you select—if you preorder a digital code at Amazon, Best Buy or Nintendo, you'll be able to plug in the code to start downloading your copy right when the game releases.
What is 'Pikmin 4' about?
Pikmin are small, plantlike creatures that you can grow, pluck, guide and overpower enemies with. You'll play as a rescue corps member who has crashed onto a strange, hostile planet, referred to as PNF-404. With the help of the Pikmin, your goal is to rescue protagonist Captain Olimar. Pikmin 4 will also introduce new elements, including Ice Pikmin and a roly-poly dog named Oatchi.
