What is Andi Mack about?

Comprising three seasons and 57 episodes, this Disney Channel series aired from April 2017 to July 2019. Andi Mack is a 13-year-old middle-schooler who finds out her “sister,” Bex, is in fact her biological mother. The sitcom explores Andi’s efforts to get Bex back together with her father, Bowie; her awkward love triangle with a boy named Jonah and her gay best friend, Cyrus; and Cyrus’s eventual coming-out moment with Jonah in season three.

The series made the news for its casual, honest depictions of religious life, for its historic coming-out character arc, and again when the actor who played Cyrus, Joshua Rush, came out as bisexual himself after realizing the positive impact his on-screen character had made on the lives of queer youth.
