What is A Goofy Movie about?

For the so-called nineties kids, Disney’s feature-length Goof Troop film, A Goofy Movie, was a childhood staple. Come for the soundtrack featuring fictional rocker “Powerline”; stay for the character of Goofy like you’ve never seen him before—with the sort of characterization and emotional depth you’d expect from something like Lilo & Stitch.

This is one of those classic “dad takes the family on vacation” plotlines, where Goofy’s pubescent son, Max, thinks his dad’s an embarrassment. The two go on a fishing trip together, trying to recapture the magic of a trip Goofy took with his own father years earlier. Bigfoot shows up at one point to crash their fun. It’s a cute, wacky little movie most people can relate to all too well.

The film’s cast includes Bill Farmer, Jason Marsden, Jim Cummings, Kellie Martin, Rob Paulsen, Wallace Shawn, Jenna von Oÿ, and Frank Welker.
