What is The Parent Trap about?
Adapted from the German children’s novel Lottie and Lisa, by Erich Kästner, this live-action Disney classic stars Hayley Mills in both lead roles—identical twins Sharon McKendrick and Susan Evers.
After meeting each other at a summer camp, the two identical girls discover they both come from single-parent households, and that their parents have each been keeping the other’s existence a secret all this time. So, naturally, the twins swap places in a scheme to meet and spend time with the parents they never knew. After revealing the truth of their little switcheroo, the twins hatch another plan: getting their parents back together.
The film also stars Brian Keith, Maureen O’Hara, Joanna Barnes, Charlie Ruggles, and Cathleen Nesbitt, and features songs by the Sherman Brothers (Mary Poppins).
