5 beauty products you should skip from Sephora's spring sale—and where to get them instead

Sephora may be running a pretty sweet bi-annual sale for Beauty Insiders with lots of great discounts (have you checked out the Dyson discounts?), but that doesn’t mean it's the only beauty deal in town— far from! In fact, depending on the items you have on your beauty wish list, you may find that you're better off scouting them elsewhere. Even with the store's current 10 to 20% off discount with coupon code SPRINGSAVE, the top-tier of which is reserved for Sephora Rogue members (customers that have spent more than $1,000), I still managed to hunt down some of our most trusted haircare and beauty products for less simply by shopping around. Keep reading to discover five Reviewed-approved finds you shouldn't buy from the Sephora sale.

1. Nearly $50 off: Our favorite curling wand
We dubbed the GHD Curve Creative Curl Wand as our favorite curling wand for good reason: We were immediately impressed with how easy it is to use. Whether you’re creating beachy waves or coiled curls, GHD's tapered barrel effortlessly progresses from 1-inch to 0.9-inches, granting you versatility for voluminous looks. We were also pleased with its its cool-tip end, which prevents possible burns to exposed skin despite maintaining a stable 365 degrees (the 30-minute auto shut-off also helps). While you can snag the GHD at Sephora for $159.20 to $179.10, depending on your Beauty Insider rank, Neiman Marcus is actually offering a better deal on this wand, discounting it by nearly $50 down to $149.25.

2. Save $41: A classic and chic fragrance with major staying power
Imagine going about your day smelling like a gorgeously warm blend of jasmine, orange blossom and patchouli. Now, allow me to introduce you to Viktor & Rolf’s Flowerbomb perfume, which Sephora describes as a “garden party in a bottle.” More than 4,000 4.6-star reviewers rave about this scent’s uncomplicated floral notes, which manage to stray from being overly feminine. Guaranteed to stay with you through workdays, dinner parties and date nights, Flowerbomb is normally $165 ($132 with Sephora’s Rouge discount) but is discounted down to $123.75 at Neiman Marcus, falling by $41.25.

3. 30% off: This cleanser with more than 11,000 ratings
Keeping up with your skincare routine is deeply important, but it never hurts to try out a new cleanser, makeup remover or face wash. Philosophy’s Purity Made Simple Cleanser is a classic option that makes clean skin a no-brainer. Shoppers love its essential oils, like rosewood, sandalwood and sage, which help to moisturize and remove leftover makeup or grime. According to its glowing reviews, it also serves to give the product a relaxing and luxurious scent. This one-step cleanser works for all skin types and is currently on sale on the philosophy website in the 24-ounce size for $16.80—more than $2 less than it would be when purchasing at Sephora with the 20% off discount. All you have to do is add it to your cart and enter coupon code 30OFF at checkout to get 30% off your entire order. Since the price difference isn't crazy different, however, the option to snag this cleanser from Sephora remains if you're looking to stock up on Beauty Insider points to contribute to your free gift.

4. 25% off: This moisturizer that will give you baby-soft skin
Made by Sunday Riley (a.k.a the notoriously incredible skincare brand that also makes the top-rated C.E.O. Glow Vitamin + Turmeric Face Oil), this ICE Ceramide Moisturizing Cream contains vitamin F-rich fatty acids that will repair and enhance your skin’s natural barrier. When trying it out for ourselves, we found that this heavy hydrator works well for all skin types, particularly when protecting against harsh winds and cooler temperatures. Normally $65, you can get it at Sephora for as low as $52 with the 10 to 20% off, but it's 25% off at Neiman Marcus, where it falls $16.25 from its original price to $48.75.

5. A 25% discount: This facial cleansing device in black
If you haven’t already invested in a facial cleansing device, your skin will thank you for picking up this one from Foreo. When we tested the LUNA mini 2, we found that its impressive technology (eight vibration settings!) worked well to gently clean sensitive skin or intensely exfoliate normal skin, since it has two sides with different silicone bristle options that you can switch between based on your skin type needs. While it didn't take the top spot when pitted against other cleansing devices (that honor went to the Clarisonic Mia Smart, in stock at ULTA), we were still impressed with what it was able to offer. Right now, the LUNA 2 is up for grabs at Sephora in five colors for $107.10 to $95.20 with the 10 to 20% off code, but you can grab one from Neiman Marcus for $89.25 in the color midnight.
