One of the largest icebergs ever recorded broke off from an ice shelf in Antarctica, British scientists announced Wednesday.

The 1 trillion ton iceberg broke off from the Larsen C ice shelf sometime between Monday and Wednesday.

At roughly 2,200 square miles, the chunk of floating ice is nearly the size of Delaware.

That also makes it larger than these 10 major landmarks:

  • Grand Canyon National Park (1,902 square miles)
  • Great Salt Lake (Utah) (1,700)
  • Long Island (1,401)
  • Luxembourg (999)
  • Lake Okeechobee (Fla.) (730)
  • Los Angeles (503)
  • Lake Champlain (N.Y., Vt., Quebec) (490)
  • New York City (304)
  • U.S. Virgin Islands (134)
  • Washington, D.C. (68)
