Turns out pixel bugs aren't shooing away Switch customers.

Nintendo confirmed its Switch video game console set a record for sales during its first two days of availability, but would not disclose specific numbers.

The video game maker said Friday and Saturday sales for the Switch in the Americas were the highest ever for any system in Nintendo history. The company also said The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, the adventure game receiving rave reviews from critics, was the best-selling standalone launch title ever for Nintendo during the first two days of availability.

The sales record were first detailed by New York Times reporter Nick Wingfield on Twitter.

Nintendo did not release official numbers on how many Switch consoles were sold. The two-day performance bests Nintendo's best home console, the Wii, which sold 600,000 units in the Americas in its first eight days.

The launch hasn't been entirely smooth: early buyers took to Reddit to complain of dead or stuck pixels on the system's 6.2-inch touchscreen.

The Switch is currently sold out online at several retailers, including Amazon, Best Buy, GameStop, Target and Walmart. On eBay, listings for just the Switch console are available for bids as high as $500.

Nintendo's Switch is a home console players can take easily on the road. At the center is a tablet docking to a TV with HDMI connection. If players want to take the device on the go, they attach a pair of "Joy-Con" controllers to the sides of the device to play in Handheld Mode. Users can also detach the controllers and prop up Switch using a kickstand in Tabletop Mode.
