E3 2017: The 5 biggest reveals during the PlayStation event

LOS ANGELES — Monday's PlayStation event ahead of the Electronic Entertainment Expo was all about one word: games.
There were no bullet points about sales (those came later), or subscribers to PlayStation Network, or anything business-oriented. It was only about the games launching on PS4 later this year and next year.
Let's recap the biggest reveals during Sony's event:
1. Look out! Here comes the Spider-Man
The wall-crawler made his debut on Sony's mammoth video screen at the Shrine Auditorium in downtown L.A. in a six-minute demo where we saw our hero take out multiple criminals and create an amazing web hammock to stop a helicopter from dropping on New York citizens.
Based on footage, the action resembles the Batman: Arkham video game series, between Spider-Man stalking enemies from above and the fluidity of combat, as the hero quickly bounces from one bad guy to the next. The game, in the works from Ratchet & Clank development studio Insomniac Games, launches next year.
2. The Dad of War
Sony's long-running God of War series is known for brutality. It follows Kratos, a Spartan warrior who takes out Greek gods like Ares and Zeus, and ultimately becomes a deity himself. The next installment, simply called God of War, involves Kratos' relationship with his son, whom he wants to groom to protect himself against a variety of threats.
Although the game shifts toward a focus on Norse mythology, God of War didn't seem to abandon its scale, based on the gameplay footage shown. Yeah, that serpent at the end is pretty creepy.
3. A closer look at the next Uncharted
Sony boasts a stellar group of first-party studios, and perhaps none is bigger than Naughty Dog, which brought us the Uncharted series and critical hit The Last of Us. Not surprisingly, they kick off the event with a deeper look at the next game Uncharted: The Lost Legacy.
This time, instead of treasure hunter Nathan Drake as the star, it appears Lost Legacy is a cooperative affair with Chloe Frazer (who appeared in the second and third Uncharted games) and Nadine Ross (Uncharted 4) teaming up to find an ancient Indian artifact.
4. The return of 'Shadow of the Colossus'
This classic game for the PlayStation 2 returns as a remaster for PS4, as players revisit the tale of Wander, who must save a young girl by slaying 16 giants.
5. Detroit follows an android revolution
Perhaps one the most interesting games at Sony's press event was Detroit: Become Human, which chronicles a future where androids are here to help humanity. Only it appears they're not happy doing this any more.
The game is developed by Quantic Dream, creators of interactive dramas including Heavy Rain and Beyond: Two Souls. The ideas behind both are to draw players in through story and decision making offering every player their own personal journey.
