From falling temperatures to pumpkin-spice, fall might be basic but this it why we think it's the best.

It's official: Summer is over.
September 22 marks the fall equinox, or the first day of fall. Naturally, Google is all over it with a doodle honoring the occasion.
The animation features an adorable mouse in a scarf, running to his home underground for a cup of tea.
The autumnal equinox arrives in the U.S. at 4:02 p.m. ET on Friday. It marks the astronomical start to fall, when the sun appears right above the equator.
More: 1st day of fall is (almost) here, but it sure won't feel like it for most of U.S.
