Obama likely to win popular vote, too

CHICAGO -- President Obama has passed Mitt Romney in the popular vote, and will almost surely win that as well.

The reason: The west coast states are still being counted, including mega-state California.

Obama has been projected the winner in California, Oregon, and Washington, and those votes will be added well into Wednesday.

As of 1 a.m., Obama had 50,237,808 votes -- Romney, 50,113,942.

That margin will grow.

Obama will get at least 303 electoral votes, well over the 270 needed to win.
