Vacationing Obama gets briefed by Rice (and plays golf)

President Obama is on a working vacation, the White House says, a message it underscored Monday with a statement and a picture.

A White House Flickr account posted a snap of Obama with National Security adviser Susan Rice, who also made the trip to Martha's Vineyard, Mass.

The administration also sent out a statement: "This morning, the president received the Presidential Daily Briefing from National Security adviser Susan E. Rice."

Later, the president hit the golf course for a second straight day, despite some rain.

His companions at the Vineyard Golf Club included Washington super-lawyer Vernon Johnson and former U.S. trade representative Ron Kirk.
