Obama's day: Cabinet meeting
President Obama meets Thursday with some of his highest-profile aides
The president hosts a Cabinet meeting, as he and his team grapple with Syria and the budget.
The meeting comes with Secretary of State John Kerry in Switzerland, talking to his Russian counterpart about a possible deal to have Syria turn over its chemical weapons to international control.
Obama and Cabinet members also huddle amid a looming budget battle with congressional Republicans.
The fiscal year ends Sept. 30. The White House and Congress must agree on a new spending plan, or face the prospect of a government shutdown.
