Obama names 'Scandal' creator to board
President Obama obviously isn't worried about scandal at the Kennedy Center.
The president has appointed television producer Shonda Rhimes -- creator of Scandal, a soap opera-ish take on sex, violence and other illicit activity in Washington, D.C. -- to the Kennedy Center board of trustees.
Rhimes also created the still-popular Grey's Anatomy, as well as Private Practice.
Her latest hit, Scandal, stars Kerry Washington, a high-profile supporter of Obama.
From the Associated Press:
"The White House says Obama is also tapping financier David Rubenstein and executive Alexandra Stanton to the Kennedy Center's board. Stanton hosted a fundraiser that Obama headlined earlier this year.
"The positions don't require Senate confirmation."
Said Obama: "I am grateful that these impressive individuals have chosen to dedicate their talents to serving the American people at this important time for our country. I look forward to working with them in the months and years ahead."
