Obama's day: Turkey pardoning
President Obama rings in the Thanksgiving season Wednesday with a presidential prerogative: Turkey pardoning.
Obama performs the duties at the 66th annual National Thanksgiving Turkey presentation in the early afternoon.
The president will "reflect upon the time-honored traditions of Thanksgiving, and wish American families a safe and healthy holiday," says the White House.
Obama also signs a trio of laws Wednesday, dealing with research into premature births, airplane regulations, and drug quality and security.
The Obama family also participates this afternoon in a yet-to-be-announced public service event to commemorate the spirit of Thanksgiving.
