Obama's day: Climate change and congressional Democrats
WASHINGTON — President Obama will announce a new series of executive actions on climate change Wednesday, this time focusing on environmental measures to help state, local and tribal governments.
The measures include $236.3 million for rural electrification, $13.1 million to help communities create three-dimensional maps, and $10 million to help American Indian tribes. Obama will meet with his State, Local, and Tribal Leaders Climate Task Force on Preparedness and Resilience in the afternoon.
Also on the agenda: meetings with Vice President Biden and members of the Congressional Hispanic Caucus to talk about immigration — specifically, Obama's proposal for nearly $2 billion in supplemental funding to address the situation at the southwest border.
Wednesday night, the president and vice president will meet with House Democrats at the White House.
