Poll reflects Obama's foreign policy troubles
A string of problems across the globe is apparently taking a toll on President Obama's support in the United States.
According to a new Associated Press-GfK poll, only 43% approve of Obama's handling of foreign relations; the president's overall job approval rating is 40%.
"Foreign policy used to be a bright spot in Americans' dimming opinion of President Barack Obama," the Associated Press reports. "Not anymore."
AP asked respondents about the parade of global hot spots:
"-- 42% say the conflict between Israel and Hamas is 'very' or 'extremely' important to them; 60% disapprove of the way Obama has handled it.
-- 40% consider the situation in Afghanistan highly important; 60% disapprove of Obama's handling of it.
-- 38% give high importance to the conflict in Ukraine; 57% disapprove of what Obama has done about that.
-- 38% find the situation in Iraq of pressing importance; 57% disapprove of Obama's handling of it."
