Obama's day: Preparing an Islamic State strategy
President Obama meets with a string of advisers Monday as he starts a week devoted largely to the threat of the insurgent group known as the Islamic State.
The president's schedule includes meetings with Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack and Treasury Secretary Jack Lew, as well as national security aides.
The days ahead will be dominated by the rollout of a plan to confront the Islamic State, which controls land in Syria and Iraq, and is seeking to establish a caliphate that could launch attacks against U.S. interests.
Obama plans to meet with congressional leaders on Tuesday, and address the nation on Wednesday.
On Thursday, Obama will participate in events to mark the 13th anniversary of the terrorist attacks of Sept. 11, 2001.
