Obama's day: A coalition against the Islamic State
President Obama seeks to do some coalition building Tuesday in the battle against the Islamic State.
Obama will meet with the chiefs of defense from more than 20 countries that are opposed to the Islamic State, including Saudi Arabia, Turkey, the United Arab Emirates, Great Britain and France.
The White House schedule says the group will "discuss the coalition efforts in the ongoing campaign" against the Islamic State, which has captured large parts of Iraq and Syria.
U.S. Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel said participants will also try to define what specific contributions each country will make in the fight against the militant group.
Obama also has some political fundraising on the schedule, an evening event to benefit the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee.
