Obama's day: Science and Ebola

President Obama asks the world of science Thursday to help find cures for Ebola.

Obama meets with members of the President's Council of Advisers on Science and Technology, asking them "to help identify promising ideas from the nation's discoverers, inventors, and innovators for meeting the Ebola challenge," says the White House schedule.

After meeting Wednesday with his new Ebola response coordinator, Ron Klain, Obama said he is cautiously optimistic that the United States can eliminate the current threat in this country.

He also cited progress in the fight against the deadly virus at its source in West Africa.

Also on Obama's schedule Thursday: Another fundraiser for the Democratic National Committee.
