Obama's day: Meetings

Back from a foreign trip, President Obama spends Monday meeting with advisers on a busy agenda that includes immigration, Iran, the budget, and the Keystone XL oil pipeline.

The president -- who returned Sunday night from a trip to China, Burma and Australia -- will soon announce executive orders on immigration that could grant legal status to millions of migrants. That development will likely trigger a major political battle with congressional Republicans.

Obama must also decide whether to exercise a veto if, as expected, the Senate this week authorizes construction of the Keystone pipeline, which would carry oil from Canada to the Gulf of Mexico.

The White House and members of Congress are also negotiating details of a new spending plan; the current plan expires Dec. 11.

And next Monday, Nov. 24, is the deadline for negotiations with Iran on its nuclear program.

Obama's meetings with advisers include a lunch with Vice President Biden.
