Obama's day: A meeting with McConnell

A high-profile political meeting highlights President Obama's schedule Wednesday.

In the mid-afternoon, Obama meets with Sen. Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., who next month becomes the leader of the new, Republican-run Senate.

Their topics include current Senate actions, particularly a new spending bill to replace the one that expires Dec. 11.

The McConnell meeting highlights a busy day for Obama that also includes meetings with business people, tribal leaders and military commanders.

It starts in the morning when the president delivers remarks and takes questions at the quarterly meeting of the Business Roundtable.

Later, Obama speaks at the sixth annual White House Tribal Nations Conference.

The president ends the day at a traditional meeting and dinner with combatant commanders and members of the military leadership.
