Obama's day: Waiting for Congress
President Obama discusses trade policy Thursday as he and aides wait for Congress to pass a spending plan ahead of a midnight deadline.
Parts of the government will shut down if Congress is unable to agree on a new spending plan by the end of the day, though leaders are confident of getting it done.
In the meantime, Obama will host a late morning meeting of the President's Export Council.
The council "advises the president on policies and programs that affect U.S. trade performance and promote export expansion," says the White House schedule.
