Obama's day: End-of-the-year news conference
President Obama closes his year in Washington by meeting the press on Friday.
Obama -- who also begins his annual end-of-the-year holiday by flying to Hawaii on Friday night -- holds a White House news conference at 1:30 p.m. ET.
Possible topics include normalization of relations with Cuba, the hack attack on Sony Pictures, the president's executive actions on immigration, tensions with Russia, prospects for the U.S. economy, and dealings with the Republican-run Congress that convenes early next year.
Obama also a series of meetings on his Friday schedule.
In the early evening, the president and his family leave for Hawaii. They will not return to Washington until the first weekend in January.
