Obama hits the bowling alley

No golf for President Obama on Monday.

Rain forced Obama into some indoor vacation exercise, as the president went bowling with a half-dozen friends at lanes on Marine Corps Air Station Kaneohe Bay in Hawaii.

Earlier in the day, Obama had a workout at an air station gym.

The president and his family are in the early days of their end-of-the-year vacation in Hawaii. They return to Washington the first weekend of the new year.

The press pool reports a "hand-painted sign that reads 'Aloha Obama Ohana' sits outside the multiple checkpoints in the palm-tree lined Kailua neighborhood where First Family is staying."

Ohana is a Hawaiian word for family.
