Obama's day: Meeting Congress, talking cybersecurity
President Obama will spend Tuesday meeting with congressional leaders — including the Republican opposition — and proposing more measures to bolster cybersecurity.
In the late morning, Obama speaks with House and Senate leaders from both parties "to discuss a wide range of issues, including places where he hopes we can work together to grow the economy and protect our national security," says the White House schedule.
The guest list includes new Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., and House Speaker John Boehner, R-Ohio.
Later in the afternoon, Obama visits the National Cybersecurity and Communications Integration Center in Arlington, Va., to deliver his latest speech on this week's major theme: cybersecurity.
Obama, who on Monday discussed ways to counter identity theft, speaks Tuesday on "efforts to increase voluntary cybersecurity information sharing between the private sector and the government while protecting privacy and civil liberties," says the White House schedule.
The White House says the president also plans to discuss ways "to improve the government's ability to collaborate with industry to combat cyber threats."
Obama is also expected to outline details of a White House-sponsored Summit on Cybersecurity and Consumer Protection, to be held Feb. 13 at Stanford University in Northern California.
