Obama's day: Senate Democrats, David Cameron
President Obama spends Thursday meeting with allies both domestic and foreign: Senate Democrats and British Prime Minister David Cameron.
In the mid-afternoon, Obama will travel to Baltimore to speak at the Senate Democratic Issues Conference. One topic: Dealing with the new Republican majority in the U.S. Senate that was sworn in this month.
After returning to the White House, Obama has dinner with Cameron to start a two-day summit with the British leader. The president and prime minister also meet Friday at the White House.
Topics include the global economy, the fight against terrorism, and how to confront Russian aggression in Ukraine.
"Security and prosperity go hand in hand," Obama and Cameron wrote in a joint op-ed. "By confronting the terrorists who threaten us, standing together against Russia's aggressive acts and continuing our efforts to advance our economic growth, we will continue to advance the security and prosperity that our people deserve."
