Obama's day: Back in D.C.
President Obama, who returned to the White House in the early morning hours of Wednesday after a trip to India and Saudi Arabia, has a low-key day on tap.
Obama's only scheduled public appearance is a late afternoon ceremony at Joint Base Fort Myer-Henderson Hall for outgoing Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel.
Both the president and Vice President Biden will speak at the farewell event.
Obama has nominated former Pentagon official Ashton Carter to replace Hagel.
The trip to India and Saudi Arabia began early Saturday; the president and first lady Michelle Obama returned to the White House shortly before 3:30 a.m.
