Obama's day: Governors and AARP
President Obama starts the week Monday by talking to governors, welcoming new ambassadors, and proposing new rules for financial managers who handle retirement accounts.
The day begins with Obama addressing the National Governors Association, with remarks focusing on the economy.
"We're not going to agree on everything," Obama said during a Sunday dinner for the governors at the White House. "But I am committed to working with each and every one of you over the next two years to keep making progress."
In the afternoon, Obama travels to AARP headquarters in Washington, where he will announce orders to the Labor Department to write new rules for financial managers who handle retirement accounts for working Americans.
The White House says the goal is to end "hidden fees that hurt consumers and back-door payments that help Wall Street brokers," deals that costs retirees billions of dollars in savings.
In the evening, Obama will host an Ambassador Credentialing Ceremony in the Oval Office, welcoming new diplomats to the United States capital.
