Obama to visit his 48th state: South Carolina
President Obama this week will visit his 48th state since taking office, a Friday trip to the Republican-leaning state of South Carolina.
Obama will speak at Benedict College, a historically black private school in Columbia.
The Associated Press notes that the president's event is "tied to his 1-year-old My Brother's Keeper initiative aimed at improving the lives of young minority men, expected to be a continuing focus for the president after he leaves office."
The South Carolina trip will leave only Utah and South Dakota on his to-do list.
U.S. Rep. Jim Clyburn, D-S.C., confirmed Obama's visit to the Palmetto State in a statement to the Columbia State newspaper.
