Obama's day: Atlanta and student loans

President Obama travels to Atlanta on Tuesday for a student loan announcement and some party fundraising.

In remarks at Georgia Tech, Obama will unveil what he calls a "Student Aid Bill of Rights," directing the Department of Education and other federal agencies to do more to help young people repay their student loans.

The plans include new rules for third-party lenders, requiring them to inform borrowers about more re-payment options; a new website where students can see all their loan information in one place; and another website where borrowers can file complaints about loan providers.

In his speech, the president will discuss "how we can make college more affordable and help all Americans invest in their educations," says the White House schedule.

While in Atlanta, Obama will also participate in a fundraising "roundtable" for the Democratic National Committee.

Obama returns to the White House late Tuesday.
