Obama's day: Science Fair, foreign investment

President Obama spends Monday admiring student science projects and encouraging foreign investment in the United States.

In the morning, Obama hosts the annual White House Science Fair, which features prize winning projects in science, technology, engineering and math (also known as STEM).

The president plans to "announce new private-sector commitments to inspire and prepare more girls and boys to excel in the STEM fields," says the White House schedule.

The 2015 Science Fair also features "a specific focus on diversity, and includes many students from under-represented backgrounds who are excelling in STEM and inspiring the next generation with their work," the White House says.

In the afternoon, Obama will host this year's SelectUSA Investment Summit, an event designed to encourage overseas businesses to operate in the United States.

The program is devoted to "promoting the United States as the world's premier business location, and providing easy access to federal-level programs and services related to business investment," says the White House schedule.

The summit, held at National Harbor, Md., "aims to connect investors from around the world with representatives from nearly every U.S. state and territory," the White House says.
