Obama's staff: 13 women, 11 men
President Obama's top staff has a new look: Mostly female.
There are now 13 female assistants to the president, compared to 11 males, officials said.
"The highest level of adviser I have on the White House staff is called an Assistant to the President," Obama said during Wednesday's town hall in Charlotte, N.C. "And we actually have more women than men right now."
It's believed to be a White House first.
"That wasn't always the case," Obama said in Charlotte. "Because when I first came in, we had to say, you know what, we got to do better, and how do we make sure that we're promoting talent."
In the town fall devoted mostly to women's issues, Obama said: "I'm trying to set an example in the White House."
Obama's staff went majority female earlier this year, including the departure of senior adviser Dan Pfeiffer and his replacement by Shailagh Murray. The president also appointed Jen Psaki as communications director.
