Obama's day: A visit from Japan
President Obama plays international host on Tuesday, welcoming Japan Prime Minister Shinzo Abe to the White House for a formal state visit.
After a welcoming ceremony in the morning, Obama meets with Abe in the Oval Office.
The two leaders hold a news conference at mid-day (and Obama is likely to be asked about the riots in Baltimore).
Among the topics of the Obama-Abe talks: A proposed trade agreement between the United States and Asia, and U.S. defense assistance to Japan.
Obama and Abe got an early start on their meeting Monday when they visited the Lincoln Memorial.
Today ends with a formal state dinner featuring Obama administration officials, members of Congress, and other special guests.
"The President and Prime Minister Abe will each give a toast," says the White House schedule.
